Recliner Buying Guide
Your Guide to Buying a Recliner Sofa
As we spend more and more time indoors, reclining sofas continue to be on the rise. Now, even if you do not have your private cinema at your home, you can still include them in your living room. Below, we tried to answer the most common questions regarding recliner sofas in hopes of helping you make the most informed decision before purchasing.
Why choose a recliner sofa?
It is believed that reclining sofas are one of the most comfortable sofas on the market. Whether you’re thinking about reclining chairs, reclining sofas or reclining corners, each of them is equipped with elements that could only add to your comfort. In general, some of them include decorative studs, USB ports or built-in consoles. As recliners can be both comfortable and practical, they are a perfect choice when you want to enjoy a relaxing afternoon or unwind with a gaming session on your PlayStation after a long day.
Which recliner sofa is best for me?
Electric Recliners
Whether you decide on electric or manual recliners, it is best to consider your lifestyle, room layout and preferences. In general, electric recliners can be operated with the touch of a button for effortless reclining. However, please note that they need to be positioned in a close proximity to a plug socket, which in turn could influence placement options in a room.
Manual Recliners
Manual recliners, on the other hand, offer much more possibilities for placement in your room, as they don’t require a power source. Manual recliners also tend to have a more classic look, which can suit a variety of interior styles, making them a great fit for more traditional or rustic living spaces. So, if you are looking for a more cohesive recliner experience, manual recliner sofas might be for you.
How to choose the best recliner sofa material
Today, recliner chairs as well as recliner sofas occur in various different styles and materials, like fabric recliner sofas, faux leather recliner sofas or faux leather suede recliner sofas. Here’s what to remember about each of them:
Fabric sofas
Probably the most popular style of recliner sofas in the last couple years. Fabric recliner sofas' constantly growing popularity stems from the fact they are ideal for styling with existing decor. What is more, they are more resistant to tearing and pilling while offering a sink-in, cosy feel.
Faux leather sofas
Faux leather recliner sofas offer a sleek, contemporary look while being easy to clean. These sofas are perfect for those who enjoy movie nights or have kids and pets, as spills and stains are easily wiped away. Faux leather is also more resistant to fading from sunlight, which makes it a good option for placing near windows.
Faux leather suede sofas
Offer a softer, more inviting texture, perfect for creating a comfortable reading nook. The softer texture of faux leather suede offers a premium touch that enhances the overall comfort of your sofa. It also adds a more refined and sophisticated aesthetic to your room, making it perfect for both modern and classic interiors.
How to take care of your recliner sofa
There are few ways that every user can maintain the condition of their recliner sofa. Firstly, it is advised to regularly hoover the recliner. That way you will be able to remove all the dust and debris, which in turn will preserve its fabric and cushions. From time to time, a protective cover might be helpful with preventing hairs and oils from spoiling the fabric. Any spill should be cleaned immediately in order to prevent stains from setting into the fabric. A good tip in the recliner maintenance journey is to always close the recliner when not in use in order to avoid strain on the mechanism. That could potentially extend its life. If you have kids, it is best to either keep small children at a safe distance or supervise them when using the recliner to ensure children use the recliner correctly. That could prevent any damages or accidents in the long run.

Measuring your space for a recliner sofa
Whether you plan on buying a single recliner chair or a 3-seater recliner sofa, think carefully about the space in your apartment you want to put them in. That is, because with recliners, you need to typically devote more space due to its reclining system. Here’s how to do it. Start with measuring entrances and hallways, in order to ensure the reclining sofa can be delivered to your chosen room. Then, pick up the perfect placement for your new sofa. Finally, measure out the limits of your room. That would allow you to understand how much space you can devote. Then, try to compare your measurements with the desired sofa’s measurements. Read carefully the recliner sofa’s front, back and depth measurements to confirm it will fit comfortably in your space. Please note that you should leave at least 10cm of clearance between the back of the recliner and the wall to prevent damage to the headrest.
